The holiday season is about spending time with the family, giving presents, and taking some time to relax and reload for the New Year. This may mean stuffing your face with candy and goodies while watching college bowl games, but it could also mean having a holiday party with your family and friends.
You could host the party in your house or apartment, but it might be more fun to get out so that you don’t have to worry about preparing, cleaning, decorating, and then cleaning again. One place that might be fun is a banquet hall, where you can be assured that there is a top-notch chef to prepare the cuisine, a dance floor to cut loose, and a helpful staff that will make your vision for the party a reality.
You can do some of the work yourself, though, which is a good solution to save some bucks. Doing all of the decorating is one solution, although that is time consuming. You could forgo the catering and prepare the meal yourself, or even make it a potluck buffet where every guest brings a dish. The one area where you can really improve the atmosphere, though, is by preparing holiday drinks. Some banquet halls will require a bartender to serve the alcoholic beverages, but here are some recipes for them to have prepared that will magnify the holiday spirit!
Holiday Drink Recipes
There are a few different ways to make eggnog with alcohol. You could make the entire concoction from scratch, but this is time consuming and more likely than not, a bartender won’t agree to it. So here is a simple recipe:
- 2 oz. Bourbon, Rum, or Kahula
- 4 oz. Eggnog
Decide which alcohol you prefer, put ingredients into shaker with ice, shake well, and strain into punch or martini glass. Sprinkle grated nutmeg and cinnamon as garnish.
This delicious drink combines the fun of sucking a candy cane with the luxury of sipping a martini. Sure to be a hit!
- 1/2 oz. Peppermint Schnapps
- 1 oz. Vodka
- 1 Mini Candy Cane
Mix the liquors in a shaker half full of ice, shake vigorously, and strain into a martini glass. Stick the candy cane in for decoration (and a fun treat after the drink is gone).
Gingerbread Man Shot
If you want to take some shots, let us recommend this fantastic drink!
- 1 part Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 1 part Goldschläger
- 1 part Butterscotch Schnapps
- 1 part Vodka
Combine ingredients into shaker half full with ice, shake well, and strain into shot glasses.
- 1 oz. Aftershock Liqueur
- 1 oz. Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum
- 1 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
- 1 oz. Vodka
- 1 oz. Eggnog
Pour ingredients into a shaker with ice, shake well, strain into a glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and stick of cinnamon.
Hopefully these drinks will help your holiday party be a rousing success! There are plenty of delicious drinks to serve, so good luck.
